On 2nd June 2025, The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) was honoured to welcome Her Excellency Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, for an official visit to the UNON complex. The President was warmly received by UNON Director-General Zainab Hawa Bangura, highlighting Slovenia’s commitment to promoting and protecting multilateralism.
During her visit, emphasized the need to strengthen the work and mandate of UNON (United Nations Office at Nairobi), UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and UNHABITAT (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), while issuing a powerful call to the international community:
“In the end, the planet will have the last word on the future of our civilization if we don’t stop gambling. Our time to act is now.”
The visit concluded with an exchange of appreciation and mutual recognition of the importance of continued collaboration between Slovenia and the United Nations
